Preparing for your skin peel treatment

The outcome of your professional skin peel treatment is not determined by the clinical procedure alone: To maximise the best outcomes, prevent complications, and achieve the most radiant glow, you'll need to carefully prepare your skin before treatment and apply special care after treatment.

Important Exclusions

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer professional peeling treatment solutions to certain groups of people due to the excess risks involved.

Please check the list to see if you are in any of these categories. If you are unsure, please contact Glowtique to discuss your individual situation.

Under 18?

You need guardian consent prior to your treatment.

Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, we are unable to provide clinical chemical peels at this time. The active acids can be absorbed systemically. We ask that you check in with us again once you are outside of these conditions.

Are you undergoing any cancer therapy?

Unfortunately, Glowtique cannot provide advanced skin-peeling services to those who are currently undergoing active cancer treatments due to increased skin fragility and compromised immunity. Please check in with us after you have completed your treatments.

Do you have an active skin infection, open wounds, or viral flare-ups?

If you have active herpes simplex (cold sores), eczema, dermatitis, or open wounds in the treatment zone, Glowtique will need to defer your appointment. Please contact us to discuss scheduling safely.

Have you used Roaccutane / Isotretinoin recently?

If you have taken oral acne medications within the last 6 months, your skin barrier is too compromised for clinical peels. We look forward to treating you once this window has passed.

The Glowtique Guide to Preparing for Your Treatment

Please carefully study the following timeline to prepare your skin for your specific Dermaceutic peel and to prevent adverse pigment changes or irritation.

On the Day of Your Appointment

  • Do avoid intense exercise immediately before your appointment to prevent excess heat accumulation, dilated blood vessels, and over-reactive skin.
  • Do keep the area clean and arrive completely free of heavy makeup, topical oils, or perfumes if possible.
  • Do not pick, scratch, or aggressively scrub your face morning-of.

Two Days (48 Hours) Before

  • Do not shave or exfoliate your face (this prevents microscopic skin tears which cause severe stinging, localized chemical burns, and uneven acid depth).
  • Stop using physical scrubs or mechanical facial brushes.
  • Avoid facial waxing, bleaching, threading, or using depilatory creams to ensure the stratum corneum is completely intact and uncompromised.
  • Avoid excessive, direct sun exposure and tanning beds; we cannot peel sun-damaged or sunburned skin.

Two Weeks (14 Days) Before — The Preparation Phase

  • Do not get cosmetic injectables (Botox or dermal fillers) in the target area within 14 days of your peel.
  • Do not undergo other resurfacing treatments like laser genesis, IPL, microneedling, or microdermabrasion.

Four Weeks Before

  • Stop using high-strength prescription retinoids (Tretinoin/Retin-A) or aggressive clinical-grade exfoliants near the target zone unless explicitly instructed by your Glowtique clinician.
