Nurturing Your Glowing Skin Post Treatment

The skin's healing phase is critical for achieving the beautiful results you expect. The following aftercare routine is your bespoke blueprint for a smooth recovery.

Skincare and Lifestyle Routine (First 7 Days)

Cleansing

Gently cleanse the treated area twice daily using a mild, pH-balanced, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry with a soft, clean towel. Avoid rubbing the skin or using abrasive washcloths.

Moisturising & Soothing

Apply a gentle, non-irritating, reparative balm or moisturiser (such as Aquaphor or a medical-grade barrier cream) 2–3 times a day to keep the area moist. For cosmetic tattoo removal, keeping the area moist is vital to prevent scabbing and aid pigment breakdown.

Avoiding Heat

For the first 48–72 hours, avoid any activity that induces excessive heat or perspiration, including strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot tubs, and very hot showers. Heat can intensify swelling and redness.

Makeup

It is recommended to avoid applying makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours. When you do resume, opt for mineral-based makeup for a gentler application.

Strictly Avoid

Do not pick, scratch, or peel any crusting or scabbing that may form—this is your skin healing and picking can lead to scarring. Continue to avoid all active skincare ingredients (Retinoids, AHAs, BHAs, etc.) for at least one week, or until the skin is fully healed.

The Glowtique guide to caring for your skin post treatment

Please carefully study the following tips to care for your skin after treatment. Not doing so may hinder your final results.

The Non-Negotiable: High-Level Sun Protection

Your newly treated skin is highly photosensitive and vulnerable to new pigmentation. Sun protection is non-negotiable for the entire healing period and beyond.

  • The Gold Standard: Apply a broad-spectrum, physical (mineral) sunscreen with an SPF 50 twice a day. Look for formulas containing Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide, as these gentle ingredients create a physical barrier.
  • Tinted Sunscreen: We highly recommend a high-level tinted sunscreen (such as Colorescience or EltaMD tinted mineral formulas) as the iron oxides offer superior protection against Visible Light, which is known to trigger pigmentation (especially for clients prone to Melasma). The tint also provides beautiful, instant complexion correction for any temporary redness.
  • Reapply: Reapply your sunscreen every two hours when exposed to daylight, and wear a wide-brimmed hat or protective clothing whenever outdoors.
