Post-Treatment Care

Proper aftercare prevents infection, minimises scarring, and maximises ink removal. Since this is a wound, you must treat the area delicately.

After care

What to expect and healing timeline

Immediately After

"Frosting" and Redness

The treated area will instantly turn a white/grey "frosted" colour (this is a chemical reaction). The skin will be red and swollen (like a sunburn).

1-3 Days

Swelling

Mild Swelling is common, especially for eyebrows (it may be worse the morning after) and eyeliner.

3-7+ Days

Crusting/Scabbing

The pigment will rise to the surface and form a dark crust or scab. This is a normal part of the process, which protects the healing skin underneath.

3-7+ Days

Hair Color Change in Eyebrows (if applicable)

Your natural eyebrow hairs may temporarily turn white or gray. This is normal and the color usually returns in 1–2 weeks.

Best Practise for Best Results

The Glowtique guide to caring for your skin post treatment

Please carefully study the following tips to care for your skin after treatment. Not doing so may hinder your final results.

Essential Instructions

Keep it Clean and Covered (First 72 Hours)

  • Cold Compress: Apply a clean cold compress or ice pack (wrapped in cloth) for 10–15 minutes every hour to reduce immediate swelling and heat.
  • Cleansing: Gently cleanse the area once or twice daily with lukewarm water and a mild, non-irritating soap. Pat the area completely dry with a clean cloth or paper towel.
  • Healing Ointment: Apply a thin layer of a prescribed healing ointment (like Aquaphor or Vaseline) as directed by your clinic to keep the area moist and protected. Do this 2-3 times per day.

Hands Off the Scabs (Critical)

  • DO NOT PICK, SCRATCH, OR RUB the crust or scabs. Allow them to fall off naturally. Picking is the #1 cause of scarring and infection.
  • The scabbing process for a cosmetic tattoo can last 5 to 10 days.

Avoid Moisture and Heat (48-72 Hours)

  • Avoid strenuous exercise or excessive sweating for 2–3 days, as sweat can irritate the wound.
  • No swimming, soaking, or hot tubs until the scabbing has completely resolved and the skin is fully healed.

Makeup and Skincare

  • DO NOT apply makeup, brow pencils, or any cosmetics directly over the treated area until the skin is fully healed and all scabs have fallen off (typically 7–10 days).
  • Continue to avoid harsh skincare products (Retinoids, acids) until your skin is completely recovered.

Sun Protection (LONG-TERM)

  • Avoid sun exposure on the treated area for at least 4 weeks after the scabs have fallen off.
  • Once healed, use a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher daily to prevent discolouration and optimise results.

It's a process that requires patience, but meticulous care will ensure the best possible results! Do you have any concerns about managing the healing or knowing what to expect during your first few days?
